Still having pain after hysterectomy

by Jennifer
(Columbus G.A.)

In October of 2007 I went to my Doctor because I was having very bad pain with my periods with a brownish color. At first he thought I had some kind of infection.

In May of 2008 he finally did exploratory surgery. He told my Mother that I had endometriosis, said that my left fallopian tube was filled with growths and that the lining of my uterus was turned inside out, also that I had several growths on my left ovary, but they were not big enough to be removed or to be causing me any pain.

He made me an appt. for 6 weeks and when I went back I was still in a lot of pain. He refused to give me anything for the pain, suggested that I start this hormone treatment plan which would make my body think I that I was going through menapause. So I did I recived six shots in a six months.

It did stop my periods but it also put me in a lot of pain and I gained a lot of weight. That was in 2009. I got my last shot in Nov. January of 2010 my periods come back ten times worse. The only thing I could do was lay on a heating pad or sit in the tub with hot water.

At the time my kids where 4 and 2 yrs old so laying around in bed wasn't something I could realy do. I finally got him to agree to do a hysterectomy but he would only take my uterus because of my age. That was in March 2010 .

Even after that I was still having a lot of pain. On Dec. 30 2010 he went back in and took my left overy out, now they tell me I have growths on my right ovary and the pain is still there! Also the hormone pills added even more pain.

And instead of saying it is the endometriosis that is casuing all of my pain he is sending me to orthopaedic doctors and to a back specialist. And because the hormone pills put me in soooo much pain I don't take them.

It is now starting to affect my husband who has been so amazing through all of this. We have been together for 22yrs. I was 27 when all this started I am 32 now. I am suposed to be in my prime where I should fell like being intimate all the time and I can't even remember the last time that I felt like having sex or even getting horny.

I know that he isn't going to cheat on me or leave me but it is causing him to be very depressed. Does any one know of something I can do or to take so that I can get that feeling back. If so please let me know. My email address is jmccook80@gmail.com
Thank you for listing to my story, Jennifer

I understand.. I went in to have a cyst removed from my ovary by laparoscopy, well they never told me I had endometriosis..they didn't know..until they saw it, and I have stage 4 endometriosis.

I had complained for years about my bad periods, bed ridden pain, then they cut me open, removed everything with a total hysterectomy. 8 hours it took them to perform the operation as the disease was so extensive. I now am very cautious of doctors.

I woke up and he tells me I have good new and bad news. The good news is you don't have cancer, well that was good news. The bad news is we gave you a complete hysterectomy. I feel like a neutered animal.

I have a husband and I wait for him to go to sleep. I used to enjoy being intimate so much. I cannot take any hormones or oestrogen to increase my sex drive. But does anyone know of anything that will help.

We really need more doctors that are specialists in endometriosis. We are all sisters of the same disease.
