Spicy Lentil Soup

Endo friendly spicy lentil soup


This is a great favourite for all the family and has healing spices that can help with endometriosis.  Full of flavour and served with gluten free bread, can make a substantial meal.  Going gluten free seems to have helped many to reduce the inflammation with endometriosis.


Spicy Lentil Soup

Gluten free, meat free, dairy free

This soup is simple to make - and you can alter the amounts and make more if you want to freeze some for later.  If you like really spicy foods you can add more spices - some ground coriander seeds, ground cumin seeds, a bit of chilli (chilli has pain relieving benefits) - choose whatever suits your taste.


4 servings

  • 2 tbs oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 celery sticks, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • Garlic - put in as much as you want - garlic has many health benefits
  • 4oz red lentils, rinsed
  • 1 pint vegetable stock
  • Salt and pepper
  • Curry powder

  In a pan, cook onion, carrot, and celery with a little oil till soft.  Add remaining ingredients, bring to the boil and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.  If you are adding some ground spices, add them at the beginning and lightly fry them off - this will bring out the oils and increase the flavour.


2   Check seasoning.  Serve with a swirl of nut yogurt or plain yogurt and chopped coriander (cilantro) leaves
