Benefits of aloe vera juice for endometriosis

Aloe vera juice has many health benefits for those with endometriosis.

Firstly, the juice is packed full of nutrients which will help to support your immune system and it is very healing for the gut.

Aloe vera is one of the major nutritionally densest natural foods available. It contains many important vitamins and minerals and antioxidants. These help to fight inflammation, strengthen immunity, and can help to treat many ailments.

Vitamin and mineral content

Aloe Vera contains the following vitamins including A, C, E, folic acid, choline, B1, B2, B3 (niacin), B6. Aloe Vera is also one of the few plants that contains vitamin B12. Some of the 20 minerals found in Aloe vera include: calcium, magnesium, zinc, chromium, selenium, sodium, iron, potassium, copper, manganese.  All great supportive nutrients to help support those with endometriosis.

Aloe Vera is High in Amino Acids & Fatty Acids

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. There are about 22 amino acids that are necessary for the human body and it is said that 8 of these are essential. It is estimated there are around  18-20 amino acids in aloe vera including  all 8 essential amino acids.

Powerful anti-inflammatory

Aloe vera has many properties that make it a powerful anti-inflammatory which will benefit the inflammatory response with endometriosis.  Aloe Vera contains 12 substances, including B-sisterole, which can help to slow down or inhibit inflammation.

The anti-inflammatory and healing action of aloe will also aid all the mucus membranes that are everywhere in our bodies and this includes the membranes that coat the organs in the abdominal region.  This includes the organs that become affected by endometriosis.  This healing action will assist any damaged areas that have been affected by the disease.  Research has shown that Aloe Vera can increase the rate of healing by about 30%!

Digestive support

Aloe has great healing properties for the digestive system and it can assist healing the lining of the gut so that we can absorb nutrients much better.   The gut lining can easily become damage by taking pain meds and drugs on a daily basis, drinking coffee, and even stress can cause issues.

Having endometriosis usually means taking different drugs to try and manage the symptoms of pain.  Taking aloe regularly can help to restore the gut and limit some of the damage.

We need our digestive system to work properly. It needs to be able to absorb the nutrients from the foods we eat and to be able to assimilate and gain benefit from any supplements we take.   The repairing benefit of aloe vera will support the digestive system as well as provide much needed nutrients.

Immune system

The polysaccharides in aloe vera juice stimulate macrophages, which are the white blood cells of your immune system that fight against viruses. Aloe is also an immune enhancer because of its high level of anti-oxidants, which help combat the unstable compounds known as free-radicals, contributing to the aging process.

Aloe contains a substance known as acemannan!  What!

Acemannan is the super hero compound in aloe with immune-stimulant, antiviral, and antineoplastic (anti-cancer) powers. Acemannan induces your macrophages to secrete three anti-cancer compounds: interferon, tumour necrosis factor-α, and interleukins.

So basically, aloe vera is going to give your immune system much needed support and those with endometriosis seem to have a compromised immune system.

Buying aloe vera

There are loads of products on the market and unfortunately, they are not all up to par when it comes to quality as so many try to profit from the reputation of this plant. Try to get aloe juice that is organic and has no added sugars.

Now the taste is not great! Or its an acquired taste! You can buy some aloe juices that are mixed with cranberry juice.  Alternatively, you can just add some fruit juice of your choice to help it go down better.   It is best to drink it on an empty stomach to get the best benefits and maximum absorption.

The bottom line – considering the great nutritional profile of aloe vera and the added health benefits it has, then for those with endometriosis, this will be a powerful ally to support your health in many ways.
