CBD Oil to help with pain of endometriosis

cbd oil benefits for endometriosis

CBD oil is used by many with endometriosis for pain as well as insomnia.  Many find great relief using the oil which is usually taken as drops under the tongue being the most popular.  As well as helping with pain, CBD oil can also help with inflammation, is reported to help with cancer, can aid with sleep and can even help relieve certain types of seizures and epilepsy.

Researchers compiled the results of multiple reviews covering dozens of trials and studies into the use of CBD oil for pain. Their research concluded that there is substantial evidence that CBD is an effective treatment for chronic pain in adults.

The fascinating thing about CBD therapy is that the body actually has cannabinoid receptors, which form part of the endocannabinoid system.

The body produces two receptors:

CB1 receptors are present throughout the body, particularly in the brain. They co-ordinate movement, pain, emotion, mood, thinking, appetite, memories, and other functions.

CB2 receptors are more common in the immune system. They affect inflammation and pain.

CBD stimulates the receptors so that the body produces its own cannabinoids, known as endocannabinoids.

What Is the Endocannabinoid System?

Breaking down the word "endocannabinoid", "cannabinoid" comes from "cannabis," and "endo" is short for "endogenous," which means that it is produced naturally inside of your body. So "endocannabinoid" simply means cannabis-like substances that naturally occur inside the body.

Purchasing CBD oil

As well as oil, CBD can also be purchased as bath bombs to provide a relaxing bath, lotions to apply direct to areas of pain, vaping oil for smoking and even sold as suppositories which can be used in the rectum or inserted in the vagina to help with pelvic pain.

The oil comes in many different strengths and it is recommended to start at a low dose and work up in strength.  You need to take care where you purchase your oil from, as there are many products on the market as the oil is gaining in popularity, and not all oils are of good quality.  It is often advised to ask for recommendations or try to find online reviews to help you decide which product to purchase.

CBD oil suppositories

CBD suppositories are very effective for pelvic pain; however, they can be very expensive.  You can easily make your own suppositories by purchasing suppository molds. I found that using coconut oil mixed with CBD oil is an easy method to make your own suppositories – and much cheaper.

To make a dozen CBD suppositories

1.   Melt a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil in a glass bowl placed in hot water (coconut oil has a very low melt point, so you don’t need to heat it on the stove)

2.  Add sufficient CBD oil to allow for 2 drops for each suppository and mix with the coconut oil.

3.  Pour the mixture into the suppository molds, you may find a cheap plastic syringe makes this job easier.

4.  You can buy some molds that come with a stand to hold them upright while they set. Or you can devise a way to support cheaper molds upright while the oil sets.  I just cut a strip of plastic suppository moulds of a required length which can that be wedged inside a plastic food container without falling over.

5.  Put the filled molds in the fridge to set. Once the oil has hardened the suppositories are then ready to use.  Keep them in the fridge so they stay hard and only take them out when you want to use one.

* Try using CBD suppositories at night and insert one in your vagina which will help reduce pain so you can get a better nights sleep.
